Started reading Perez-Gomez and Pelletier’s Architectural Representation and the Perspective Hinge. A great book, but I find the authors’ concept of architecture strangely and fascinatingly alien. I don’t think of architecture as an art that is primarily appreciated visually: to look at a picture of a building is equivalent to looking at a sheet of music or a still image of a film. Even visiting a building or a city is just to scratch the surface. To properly enjoy a work of architecture, one should first build it, then live and work in it, use it to one’s advantage, modify it and be modified by it.
